Christoph Patsch is a Principal Scientist and group head at the Roche Innovation Center in Basel. His team applies stem cell technologies to develop translational in vitro models for neurological and immunological disorders. To this date, his team has used iPSC cell-based assays for identification, validation and characterization of several drug candidates (small molecules, biologics and antisense oligonucleotides).
I) Modelling Tau pathology in human iPS cell-derived neuronal cultures to perform phenotypic screens to identify and explore compounds that ameliorate the disease.
II) Modelling alpha-synuclein pathology in human iPS cell-derived microglia to perform phenotypic screens to identify and explore compounds that ameliorate the disease.
III) Applying novel differentiation methods to generate vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells to develop an in vitro model for endothelial barrier function.
